As the Community Development Director, David Johnson is responsible for a variety of areas in planning, zoning, building code inspection, and code compliance, as well as community development plans and land use ordinances.  He oversees personnel responsible for rental and building inspections; he also staffs the Planning and Zoning Commission and Board of Adjustment.  

David came to the City of Coralville in April 2020 with over 18 years of experience in community planning, development, and management. He served as the building services manager for the City of Dubuque, where he previously served as an assistant planner.  Johnson has a Master of Public Affairs degree from the Truman School of Public Affairs in Columbia, Missouri, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography from the University of Iowa.
