5th Street Social Coralville Block Party

Celebrate the Summer on 5th Street

Music, food, brews, & fun

Saturday, August 10 | 4:00-10:00 pm

Summer isn't over, so celebrate with live music, craft beer, food vendors, kids fun zone, local artisans, and a classic car show and shine.

5th Street Social includes fun for everyone with giant games and a chalk it up area, and live music by Dogs on Skis, Central Standard Time, New Dawn, and New Trick. Buy a bite to eat from local food trucks and sip craft beer from four Johnson County breweries. There's even a musical instrument petting zoo for kids! Free admission. 5th Street Social

Volunteers are needed at 5th Street Social to help with the beverage garden, kids fun zone, stage crew, hospitality, and set up and tear down. Did we mention the free t-shirt? Volunteer

Get to Know Your Neighbors

National Night Out is August 6

Many Coralville neighborhoods are hosting block parties on Tuesday, August 6 for National Night Out. It's a great night to get to know those who live nearby and build neighborhood ties. 

If your neighborhood is hosting a block party, step outside and join in the fun! Guests from the Coralville Police and Fire Departments and City Council will stop by as many registered parties as they can to say hello. We'd love to see you! National Night Out

Is Your Home in Need of Repairs?

Program offers forgivable loans

Johnson County homeowners (outside of Iowa City) who meet certain income requirements may be eligible for a five-year forgivable loan to make necessary home repairs. Priorities include roofs, windows, doors, siding, HVAC, plumbing, and safety concerns.

Construction Update

Coral Ridge Avenue

The last stretch of work on Coral Ridge Avenue from Oakdale Boulevard to Forevergreen Road is nearing substantial completion. 

Eastbound Forevergreen Road is expected to re-open this Saturday. Coral Ridge Avenue is reduced to one lane in each direction while crews continue work on stormwater bio-retention cells along both sides of the street. The goal is to have all lanes, intersections, and sidewalks open before school starts on August 23.

The World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra

Thursday, August 8 | 7:00 pm

With its unique jazz sound, the World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra is considered to be one of the greatest bands of all time! The present Glenn Miller Orchestra was formed in 1956 and has been touring consistently since then. 

Theatre summer camp:
The Legend of Blackbeard's Gold

August 5-9

Children ages 7 to 13 will have the opportunity to work and perform with three professional actors from The Old Creamery Theatre while they rehearse and present a play, all in one week! Limited space remains, register now!

Join spinners and weavers from the Craft Guild of Iowa City for free demonstrations at the Annie Gill Craft Table. Watch these artisans at their craft, ask questions, and try it out. All ages are welcome! Demonstrations

The Word is Murder by Anthony Horowitz

Anthony Horowitz pens a novel about a man by the same name who is hired to chronicle the life of a detective investigating the death of a woman who died hours after planning her own funeral. It's a Mystery discussion group
