Iowa Firefighters Memorial Service

A tribute to Iowa firefighters

Sunday, June 9 | 10:30 am

The 25th annual memorial service at the Iowa Firefighters Memorial in Coralville honors the courage and service of firefighters from across Iowa.
Names are added to the wall honoring Iowa firefighters who served their fire department at least ten years and have passed away, and Iowa firefighters killed in the line of duty. Memorial service

Summer Food Programs

Healthy food to help with meals

Coralville's Lunch Sack program helps provide families with access to healthy food during the summer, when there is no school lunch to rely on for meals.

Any family that lives in Coralville is eligible to sign up; Lunch Sacks have simple meal components to supplement summer meals at home, and are picked up on specific dates this summer. Lunch Sack program

The Summer Snax program for ages 2-18 provides a free snack and activity most weekdays this summer. 

Food is provided by local businesses, and activities include everything from cooking and crafts to basketball and board games! Children younger than 8 should be accompanied by a supervising adult or older sibling.  Summer Snax program

Friday, June 7 | 7:00 pm

Bring blankets and lawn chairs to S.T. Morrison Park for games, snacks, a bounce house, and a visit from the Coralville Fire Department. Then watch The Goonies (PG) under the stars starting at 9:15 pm. Party & movie

Kids' Day at the Farmers' Market

Monday, June 10 | 5:00-7:00 pm

In addition to the Market vendors, families can enjoy free balloon creations by Papa Balloon, games and activities with The Iowa Children's Museum, and music by Greg and Susan Dirks. Sponsored by the University of Iowa Community Credit Union. Kids' Day

Fire Department night at Youth Sports Park*

Thursday, June 13 | 4:30-8:00 pm

The Coralville Fire Department will be at the Coralville Youth Sports Park. See a fire truck, try to beat a firefighter at a fire extinguisher game, and enjoy a ballgame! Fire Department night

Annual 4th of July celebration nears

Coralville's 4thFest is a few weeks away, but it's not too early to make plans to see Journey former lead vocalist Steve Augeri in concert for free and attend the parade, fireworks, carnival, and special activities! Events are held July 3 and 4. 4thFest

Coral Ridge Ave improvements

Construction Update

Coral Ridge Avenue

The last stretch of work on Coral Ridge Avenue from Oakdale Boulevard to Forevergreen Road continues. Another project milestone was reached on June 4 when northbound Coral Ridge Avenue traffic shifted back to the correct side of the center median from Oakdale Boulevard to Forevergreen Road. Traffic will remain one lane northbound and one lane southbound until later in June.

Work this week includes paving the northbound left turn lane at Forevergreen Road and the remaining left turn lanes on Wheaton Road, center median brick pavers, and crosswalks. Coral Ridge Avenue improvements

Set in turn-of-the century New York City and based on the real-life 1899 Newsboy Strike, NEWSIES is the rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a ragged band of teenaged "newsies," who dreams only of a better life far from the hardship of the streets.
