A Friendly Competition Saves Lives

Donate blood for "Battle of the Badges"

Thursday, July 26 | 10:00 am-2:00 pm

Be a hero without a badge: donate blood on behalf of the Coralville Police or Fire Departments at the 5th annual “Battle of the Badges” blood drive.

This is a friendly competition to see which department can get the most blood donations and save the most lives. Feel good knowing you've helped change a life! Held at the Coralville Public Library and hosted by the DeGowin Blood Center. Blood drive


Transit Interchange Impacted by RAGBRAI

Layover location moves July 26-28

The Coralville Transit bus layover location in downtown Iowa City will temporarily move to E. Court Street between Clinton and Capitol Streets on July 26-28 due to street closures and festivities for Iowa City RAGBRAI. Temporary bus interchange location

Watch for cyclists & share the road

RAGBRAI will bring thousands of bicyclists to the area for an overnight stop in Iowa City on July 27. Please drive safely: watch for bicyclists, share the road, be patient, and check your blind spots for cyclists—especially when turning or changing lanes.

National Night Out

Get to Know Your Neighbors

Host a block party on August 7

 All Coralville neighborhoods are invited to host block parties on Tuesday, August 7 for National Night Out. It’s a great night to meet those who live nearby, build neighborhood ties, and strengthen community partnerships.

Guests from the Coralville Police and Fire Departments and City Council will stop by as many registered parties as they can to say hello. Now is the time to plan and sign up your neighborhood gathering. National Night Out

Paving Continues on Road Projects

1st Avenue

Paving on 6th Street and 1st Avenue south of the railroad crossing is nearing completion, and grading for the pavement north of the railroad crossing to Pipeline Road is underway. The 6th Street connection to 1st Avenue is scheduled to re-open in mid-August before school begins.
1st Avenue is reduced to one lane in each direction from just south of 6th Street to just south of 9th Street. Reconstruction on the west half of the project should be complete by mid-September, and then work will begin on the east half. 1st Avenue improvements

Coral Ridge Ave improvements

Coral Ridge Avenue

Paving is complete on two southbound lanes of Coral Ridge Avenue from Forevergreen Road to University Parkway. Traffic is expected to move onto the new pavement between Forevergreen Road and Wheaton Road on August 6, but the overall detour route remains unchanged.
The Coral Ridge Avenue detour uses Oakdale Boulevard, Crosspark Road, and Wheaton Road. The detour will last until mid-November. Coral Ridge Avenue improvements

5th Street Social

Fun on 5th Street returns

Saturday, August 11

Volunteers make every special event run smoothly, and the 5th Street Social is no exception. Volunteers are needed on August 11 at the 5th Street Social to help with the beverage garden, kids fun zone, stage crew, and set up and tear down. Sign up now to guarantee your t-shirt size and mark your calendar for volunteer training on Monday, August 6 from 6:00-7:00 pm.  Learn more about volunteer opportunities at

Open Doors Dance Festival Student Showcase

Friday, August 3 | 7:00 pm

As part of Nolte Productions’ Open Doors Dance Festival, students will perform choreography by renowned dancers and artists from across the country.

Arangetram-Bharatanatyam — Indian Classical Dance Graduation Recital

Sunday, August 5 | 3:00 pm

Indian Classical Dance students will present a graduation dance recital, the culmination of eight to nine years of study. This ancient dance form tells mythological and historical stories, and features vibrant costumes, makeup, and jewelry.
