What’s Open, What’s Closed on Thanksgiving

Adjusted hours & closures

Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, some City offices, buildings, and services will have adjusted hours or closures. City administrative offices and the Library will be closed on Thursday and Friday, November 23 and 24. Coralville Transit will not operate on Thanksgiving Day, and on Friday buses will run a Saturday route and schedule. Learn more

Trash & Recycling Pickup Dates

Check the holiday schedule for your collection

Due to Thanksgiving, trash and recycling for Thursday routes will be picked up the Monday after Thanksgiving. The week after Thanksgiving, all routes will be picked up one day later than usual. Learn more


New Coralville Drop-Off Recycling Center

Opens December 4 with expanded hours

The Coralville Drop-Off Recycling Center is moving and offering expanded hours. Beginning Monday, December 4, Coralville residents can drop off recyclable items at 950 Hughes Street, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Acceptable items include paper, plastics #1-5 and 7, aluminum and tin, and cardboard.

The existing Recycling Center on E. 7th Street will close permanently on Saturday, December 2, at noon. Learn more

If you have old, burned out, or unwanted holiday lights, don’t trash them – recycle them instead! Drop off strings of lights at any of the City’s holiday light recycling locations. Learn more

Sweets with Santa

Friday, November 24

Decorate your own holiday cookie, sip hot cocoa, and take a photo with Santa amidst decorated trees and wreaths at Brown Deer Golf Club.

Festival of Trees

Saturday, November 25

Kick off the holiday season with food, fun, festive performances, and holiday decor. This supports many programs of the Coralville Center for the Performing Arts.  At Brown Deer Golf Club.

Sing-Along Messiah

Friday, December 1

Sing along with Handel's beloved oratorio. Conductor Ed Kottick brings together an orchestra, professional soloists, and local choirs for a joyful holiday celebration.

Star of Wonder
An original Christmas Celebration

Saturday, December 2

With Joe Mattingly and the Encore Singers and Orchestra. Come early for the pre-concert wine and cheese gathering -- stay late for the post-show party.
