Build a Better Community

Free Community Meal

Get together for food, live music, and more

Friday, June 9 | 5:30-7:30 pm

Gather with friends and neighbors for a free, locally-sourced, summertime meal on the library lawn, hosted by the Coralville Public Library and the Coralville Community Food Pantry.
Bring a blanket and lawn chairs and enjoy food, live music, face painting, a book walk, family activities, and extended library hours. Learn more

Iowa Firefighters Memorial

Iowa Firefighters Memorial Service

A tribute to Iowa firefighters

Sunday, June 11 | 10:30 am

The annual memorial service at the Iowa Firefighters Memorial honors the courage and service of Iowa firefighters.

Names are added to the wall honoring Iowa firefighters who served their fire department at least ten years and have passed away, and Iowa firefighters killed in the line of duty.

In addition to the memorial service, a candlelight service will be held on Saturday, June 10, at dusk. Learn more

Weekdays | 11:45 am

Youth age 18 or younger can stop by the Fireside Picnic Shelter in S.T. Morrison Park on weekdays this summer for a free lunch, followed by activities for kids age 12 and younger. Learn more

Kids Day at the Farmers’ Market

Monday, June 12 | 5:00-6:30 pm

In addition to the Market vendors, families can enjoy free balloon creations by Papa Balloon, games and activities with The Iowa Children's Museum, a bounce house, Music Time with Nancy, and The Magic of Tim Stolba. Sponsored by UICCU. Learn more

Family Drive-In Movie
The Secret Life of Pets (PG)

Friday, June 23 | 6:30 pm

Pack a picnic and blankets for a free “drive-in” movie night in S.T. Morrison Park. Bring your wagons and ride-on toys, or make a cardboard car starting at 5:30 pm; supplies will be provided. The drive-in is a nod to the former Coralville Drive-in Theatre, which is the theme for this year’s 4thFest parade. Run like the wind

Saturday, July 1 | 8:00 am

Cross a 5K off your bucket list, go for a PR, or just run for the t-shirt; awards given for the top finishers in each age group. Kids age 8 and younger can run in the free Firecracker Mini-Marathon afterwards. Not hitting the pavement? Mark your calendar and cheer for the runners along the route. Learn more

Watch the Hanson Family juggle and perform unicycle tricks; then balance, juggle, and spin with them after the show. Mark is a Guinness World Record holder for speed juggling, and Christa is a national unicycle champion. Learn more

Bottomland by Michelle Hoover

Thursday, June 15 | 7:00 pm

Follow the Hess family in Iowa after World War I as they attempt to rid the anti-German sentiment that stained their name. When the youngest daughters vanish, the family must piece together what happened. Bottomland is this year’s All Iowa Reads selection. Learn more

Four actors present a staged reading of Cross-Examined by Margot Connolly; the play is based on the true story of two African-American mothers who fought the Iowa Supreme Court for integration at Keokuk High School. Learn more
