Police Chief Shane Kron

Coralville Appoints New Police Chief

Chief Shane Kron is a familiar face

Following a national search, recommendation by City Administrator Kelly Hayworth, and unanimous City Council approval, Shane Kron was appointed and sworn in as Chief of Police on February 14.
Kron joined the Coralville Police Department in 1990. He has served as Officer, Patrol Sergeant, Patrol Lieutenant, Administrative Lieutenant, and Interim Chief of Police. He earned an MS in criminal justice administration from Columbia Southern University and a BS in public administration from Upper Iowa University. Kron replaced Chief Barry Bedford, who retired in January. Learn more

Golf Resumes at Brown Deer

Mild weather allows course to open early

Brown Deer Golf Club will open for the season on Friday, February 17 at 10:00 am, and will stay open as long as the weather allows. Carts will be available, but must remain strictly on cart paths to protect the course. Learn more

A Place to Wet Your Plants

Registration opens soon for community gardens

Registration begins on February 27 for plots at the Coralville Community Gardens. 
The gardens feature 10’ x 30’ and 10’ x 15’ plots, as well as 8’ x 4’ accessible raised beds adjacent to handicapped parking. Water spigots, mulch, a communal tool shed, and a garden waste disposal area are available on site. Learn more

What’s Open, What’s Closed

City schedule for Presidents’ Day holiday

On Monday, February 20, City offices and the Library will be closed for Presidents’ Day. Coralville Transit buses will run a normal schedule, and the Recreation Center and Indoor Pool will be open. All trash and recycling routes will be picked up one day later than usual the week of February 20. Learn more

LEAP! 2017

February 27

Presented by Combined Efforts. Enjoy a memorable evening of music, song, dance, comedy, art, and a sword fight as local performers join the creativity of the Combined Efforts Theatre Company, Men’s Choir, Dance Company, Writers’ Group, and Expressive Visual Artists.
