Celebrate All That Is Hawkeye

FRYfest in the Iowa River Landing

Friday, September 2 | All Day

Kick off the Hawkeye athletic season! This year's festival highlights Hawkeye rivalries and the unveiling of a statue of coach Hayden Fry -- plus autographs, Hawkeye trivia and merchandise, discussions, a blood drive, pep rally, and more. All events, except the High Porch Block Party, are free; food is available for purchase. Learn more


High Porch Block Party

Featuring Hairball in concert

Friday, September 2 | 4:00 pm

A “high porch picnic” is a Texas expression for an exceptionally good time, and the outdoor section of FRYfest features an exceptionally good block party. Enjoy bags games, a kids zone, Hairball, and fireworks. Wristbands are $5; buy at select area locations and at the gate. Learn more

Police Department News

Promotion, assignments, & new officers 

Coralville Police Chief Barry Bedford recently announced that Juan Coleman has been promoted to the rank of Sergeant, Officer Hanna Dvorak has been assigned to the position of Detective, and Officer Adam Jennings has been assigned as the department’s Community Relations Officer.

The Police Department also welcomes three new patrol officers: Officer Jeff Reinhard, Officer Nicholas Stoos, and Officer Micheal Mrstik. Learn more

Biking in Coralville

Do You Bike in Coralville?

Coralville is applying for Bicycle Friendly Community status with the American League of Bicyclists. One step in the process is to gather feedback from the local community about bicycling in Coralville. The public is invited to participate in a short online survey, available until September 15. Coralville City Hall

What's Closed, What's Open on Labor Day

On Monday, September 5, City offices, the Library, Coralville Transit, and the Farmers’ Market will be closed. The Recreation Center and Indoor Pool will be open. Trash and recycling pickup will be one day later than usual September 5-9. Learn more


Big Day of Play

PLAYvolution kicks off in S.T. Morrison Park

Sunday, September 11 | 2:00-4:00 pm

Coralville Parks and Recreation will host activities for kids ages three to twelve and their families. Start with the “Pledge to Play,” play noodle hockey and life-size Hungry Hungry Hippos, jump in the bounce house, test your skills at the obstacle course, make a craft, and listen to music. Brown Deer Golf Club Head PGA Golf Professional Sean McCarty will be inducted into the National Iowa Varsity Club Athletics Hall of Fame on September 2. Sean is a certified PGA Golf Professional and has been at Brown Deer since 2001. Learn more
