Tree City USA award

Coralville Is a "Tree City USA"

City meets four core standards of sound urban forestry management

The Arbor Day Foundation and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources Forestry Bureau presented Coralville with a 2015 Tree City USA award in early April. Coralville has been designated a Tree City USA for over 20 years.

To qualify for Tree City USA status, a city must, at a minimum, have either a city forester or an active city tree board; have a tree ordinance; spend at least $2 per capita annually for its community forestry program; and have a tree planting and maintenance plan. Learn more

Crews Are Flushing Fire Hydrants

We're not wasting water: hydrant flushing is part of annual maintenance

The City is flushing fire hydrants from now until late May. After nearby hydrants are flushed, you may notice a temporary discoloration of the water which does not affect water safety; if discoloration happens, run cold water from a faucet until the water clears. Learn more

Coralville's City-Wide Garage Sale is Saturday, April 30, from 8 am until noon. Save the date to shop, or start planning your sale!  Participating garage sales should register by April 20. Learn more

Fire Department Flips Flapjacks

Annual pancake breakfast is around the corner

Sunday, April 24 | 7:00 am to 1:00 pm

Enjoy pancakes, sausage, eggs, juice, and coffee at the annual Coralville Fire Department Pancake Breakfast at the 5th Street fire station! Eat a hearty breakfast, tour a fire truck, and support a good cause. Learn more

8:00 am to noon | City Hall Parking Lot

Whether you want to declutter and donate items or look for a great find, Recycle Swap Day keeps usable items out of the landfill! 

Community Shred Event

10:00 am to noon | Aquatic Center Parking Lot

Thin out your files and bring up to two boxes of personal papers for shredding in the mobile shredding truck, courtesy of the Coralville Police Department and Heartland Shredding.

Mayor's Clean Up Week

Save the Date

Mayor's Clean Up Week

May 9-13

Set out big, unusable items, such as broken furniture or busted bathroom fixtures, for free pickup on trash day during Mayor's Clean Up Week.

For unwanted (but still usable) building materials and appliances, consider donating them to ReStore. Free pickup is available, donations are tax-deductible, and the items sold at ReStore support Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity.
