Garbage Truck

Let's Talk Trash

When to move your carts and bins

Trash and recycling can be set out for pickup up to 24 hours before your collection day. Return empty carts and bins to your home after collection—carts and bins left at the curb risk blowing into the street, and neglected carts can be a sign to burglars that no one is home.

Loose trash

Bagging your garbage in the cart helps to avoid loose trash blowing in your neighborhood. As the snow melts, picking up loose trash that has collected on your property during the winter helps to keep our city looking clean.

How Do You Travel Around Town?

Transportation survey results will guide area planning

The Metropolitan Planning Organization of Johnson County (MPOJC) wants to know how and why Johnson County residents travel. The public is invited to complete six anonymous, online transportation surveys (general transportation, passenger vehicle, transit, bicycle, pedestrian, and youth), available until March 25. Responses will help guide decisions about future area transportation improvements and investments. Learn more
