Iowa City Area Transit Study

See Potential Changes for Area Transit Systems

Three open houses scheduled for late January

Share your feedback about potential scenarios to redesign and improve our area transit systems, including possible route changes.

Coralville, Iowa City, and the University of Iowa will host open houses for the community to provide input about improving public transit systems. The open houses include opportunities to see and weigh in on scenarios for redesigning the area transit systems.

  • Tuesday, Jan. 28, 6:00-8:00 pm, Iowa City Public Library 
  • Wednesday, Jan. 29, 6:00-8:00 pm, Iowa Memorial Union.
  • Thursday, Jan. 30, 6:00-8:00 pm, Coralville City Hall

Now Hiring: Local Census Jobs Pay $21.00 per Hour

Get help applying at recruiting event

Fridays | 10:00 am-2:00 pm

Census Bureau representatives will be at the library each Friday in January and February, from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm, to answer questions and help with applications to be a census worker.

Earn extra income while helping your community. The Census Bureau is hiring for a variety of temporary jobs in Johnson County, including census takers and recruiting assistants. Pay rate is $21.00 per hour plus $0.58 per mile. Census jobs

On Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, City offices will be open, trash and recycling will be picked up on schedule, and Coralville Transit will run a Saturday schedule.

Watch a free screening of ''King in the Wilderness,'' a critically claimed documentary about the last three years of Dr. King's life, at the Coralville Center for the Performing Arts.

Hear the ''I Have A Dream'' speech

Monday, January 20 | 5:00 pm

The words of Dr. King's famous ''I Have a Dream'' speech will ring through the Coralville Public Library, with readers from community groups who work to fulfill Dr. King's dream.

Which Streets Get Plowed First

Priority based on most heavily-traveled roads

When there's snow or ice, the City's snow team plows and treats the busiest roadways first: the main streets and the transit routes. If school is in session, school area streets are cleared next, then the remaining residential streets, and finally the cul-de-sacs.
