What's Open, What's Closed

Holiday hours & schedules

Happy holidays from the City of Coralville! City Hall and City administrative offices will close at noon on December 24 and 31 and will be closed on December 25 and January 1. 

The Library, Recreation Center, and Indoor Pool will be closed on December 24, 25, and January 1. There will be no bus service on Christmas Day and New Year's Day, and service will be adjusted on December 24 and 31.

Trash & Recycling Schedule

Check to see if your trash and recycling collection is impacted by the holidays:

  • Monday and Tuesday routes: collection is as scheduled during the holidays.
  • Wednesday and Thursday routes: collection is one day later than usual during the weeks of Christmas and New Year's.

Cards and envelopes (without foil or non-paper items)

Police

Coralville & Johnson County Accepting Applications for Law Enforcement Officers 

Deadline is January 13, testing is January 25

The City of Coralville and Johnson County Sheriff's Office are accepting applications for law enforcement officers. 

Starting pay for Coralville police officers is $51,787 annually plus benefits, including health insurance and paid time off; starting pay for certified officers is up to $65,395 plus benefits. High school diploma required.

Starting pay for full-time deputy sheriffs is $23.92 per hour plus benefits, including paid time off and health insurance. High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Remembering a Legend

In 2016, the City of Coralville commissioned a life-sized cast bronze sculpture of University of Iowa Coach Hayden Fry, installed atop a slab of Iowa limestone next to Coralville's 1st Avenue, a street ceremonially known as Hayden Fry Way.

Coach Hayden Fry, who passed away this week, left an indelible mark on our community and Hawkeye nation.  Remembering a legend

K-12 Chilly Reading Challenge

Kids and teens in grades K-12 are invited to chill out and read three "just right" books between December 20 and January 10 for a chance to win a prize. Register online or at the Circulation Desk starting on December 20. Chilly Challenge
