Outdoor Burning Basics

Open burning is not allowed in Coralville

Are you thinking about burning yard waste, recycling, or trash? Think again. Open burning is prohibited in Coralville. Open burning

Outdoor fireplaces & fire pits

Recreational fires are only allowed in specific types of outdoor fire pits or fireplaces. There are other requirements too, including where they can be used, what can be burned, who must be present, when to use a lid, and what fire-extinguishing equipment must be on site.
Before using any outdoor fire pit or fireplace, be mindful of safety, neighbors, and pets. Outdoor fire pits and fireplaces are not allowed when conditions make it dangerous, or when the fire or smoke are objectionable. Outdoor firepits & fireplaces

Finishing 1st

Construction Updates

Finishing 1st

The final remaining improvements for the 1st Avenue reconstruction between 6th and 9th Streets re-started in April.

Crews are working to complete the permanent northbound and southbound left turn lanes and medians on 1st Avenue at 6th Street, as well as intersection paving for the east leg of E. 7th Street, limestone veneer on retaining walls along the west side, sidewalks along the east side, and street lighting. Some new trees were even planted at the north end of the project!

Northbound and southbound lane reductions on 1st Avenue approaching 6th Street are expected to last until late April. Additional paving north of 6th Street will also require lane closures, with efforts made to minimize the duration. The project should be substantially complete by the end of May.  1st Avenue reconstruction

Coral Ridge Ave

Coral Ridge Avenue

The last stretch of work on Coral Ridge Avenue from Oakdale Boulevard to Forevergreen Road began in April.

Recent work includes pavement removal, pouring new pavement, street light installation, traffic signal wiring, stormwater bio-retention cell work, and brick paver installation.
Traffic runs head-to-head on the west half of Coral Ridge Avenue between University Parkway and Forevergreen Road, similar to the traffic control setup last fall. In mid-to-late May, Coral Ridge Avenue traffic will shift to single lanes on the correct side of the center median until the project is substantially complete in late June. Coral Ridge Avenue reconstruction
