Memorial Day Holiday Schedule of City Services

In observance of Memorial Day, the City of Coralville will observe the following holiday schedule on Monday, May 29, 2023:

City Offices
City Hall, and the administration offices of Fire and Police, along with the Parks, Water, Wastewater, Streets, and Sanitation Departments will be closed.

Library
The Coralville Public Library will be closed.

Transit
No Coralville Transit buses will be running.

Recreation Center & Pool
The Recreation Center and the Indoor Pool will be closed on Sunday, May 28 and Monday, May 29. The Recreation Center and Indoor Pool will be open normal business hours on Saturday, May 27. An indoor pool schedule with lap swim and open swim times can be found at www.coralville.org/indoorpool.

The Coralville Community Aquatic Center will open for the summer season on Saturday, June 3.

Trash & Recycling
Trash and recycling will be collected one day later than usual the week of Memorial Day (May 29-June 2, 2023):

  • Monday’s route will be picked up Tuesday, May 30
  • Tuesday’s route will be picked up Wednesday, May 31
  • Wednesday’s route will be picked up Thursday, June 1
  • Thursday’s route will be picked up Friday, June 2

On Saturday, May 27, the Coralville Drive-In Recycling Center at 212 1st Avenue will be open regular hours, 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. The recycling center will be closed on Sunday, May 28, and Monday, May 29.  

As always, trash and recycling should be at the curb by 7:00 am on collection day.  During the month of May, appliances and electronics will be picked up by appointment on Thursday, May 25 and Friday, May 26. Request an appliance/electronics pickup. For questions about trash and recycling collection, please call 319.248.1740.

Memorial Day Observance
Coralville American Legion, with Area Legion Color Guard, will hold a Memorial Day observance at Oak Hill Cemetery, located 1290 1st Avenue, at 11:15 am on Monday, May 29. In the event of rain, it will be moved to 11:00 am at Coralville American Legion, 901 2nd Street.  

This Memorial Day observance honors and remembers those who are fallen and have served our country, and will include a reading of names of veterans. The public is invited to attend; bring lawn chairs if needed. The event will last approximately 30 minutes. Attendees are invited to visit the Veterans Memorial in Coralville, which is adjacent to the cemetery; this new amenity is in the final phase of construction.
