Recycle Natural Holiday Trees & Greenery in January

Recycle holiday trees

For customers with City of Coralville trash and recycling services, the Coralville Solid Waste Department will collect and recycle live holiday trees, wreaths, and swags throughout the month of January starting January 3, as staff is available. Trees and greenery will be picked up and composted at the Iowa City Landfill and Recycling Center.

For live holiday trees and greenery to be recycle-ready, trees must be set at the curb for pickup and not placed in a bag. Remove all lights, decorations, wires, tinsel, stands, or any other non-organic material. Trees larger than six feet tall should be cut into sections.

Artificial trees cannot be recycled. They can be reused the next holiday season, or donated if no longer needed.  If you must throw away an artificial tree, break it down to fit in your trash cart.

For more information, contact the Solid Waste Department at 319.248.1740.
