The Coralville Community Aquatic Center, Coralville’s outdoor pool, will open for the summer season on Saturday, June 12, 2021, at 12:00 pm. Take a dip and cool off this summer!

Due to a shortage of certified lifeguards, the hours for the Aquatic Center have changed since publishing the Summer Activity Guide in May.

4:30 pm-7:00 pm    Open to the public

Tuesday, Thursday, & Friday
10:30 am-1:00 pm    Open to the public
1:30 pm-4:00 pm    Open by reservation (scheduled groups/Splash Parties only)
4:30 pm-7:00 pm    Closed

Saturday & Sunday
Noon-6:00 pm    Open to the Public

Maximum capacity
The maximum capacity is 175 people.

Admission, Slides, & Staffing
The weekday hours are set in blocks of time. Once a block ends, the pool will be cleared and everyone will be required to leave. Those wishing to come back for the evening block will need to pay another admission fee or show a season pass. Daily admission is $5 per person, and free for children under the age of two.

Due to the lifeguard shortage, only one slide will be open at a time. A different slide will be open every 20 minutes.

Open hours at the indoor pool will also be reduced due to the lifeguard shortage. For the indoor pool monthly calendar, visit www.coralville.org/indoorpool

Coralville Parks and Recreation plans to expand these hours based on staffing. The lifeguard shortage is affecting many municipal pools this year, and is a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and fewer people taking lifeguard certification classes. For safety, the pool can only open with enough staff. Please be understanding and considerate.

Now Hiring Lifeguards
To help keep Coralville’s pools staffed and open, Coralville Parks and Recreation continues advertise for and accept applications to join Coralville’s lifeguard team. A lifeguard certification class reimbursement program is available for those who pass the class and are hired.

Lifeguarding is a great job for anyone age 16 and older who likes to swim and spend days at the pool. The training provides lifelong skills like CPR and First Aid. For more information, call 319.248.1750 or visit www.coralville.org/jobs.
