Census Job Recruiting Event
Friday, March 6, 2020
Would you like to earn extra income while helping our community? The Census Bureau is recruiting for temporary positions for the 2020 Census. Census Bureau representatives will be at library to answer questions and help with applications to be a census worker.
Temporary Jobs Available
The U.S. Census Bureau is hiring temporary workers, including census
takers and recruiting assistants, to help count our community in the
2020 Census!
Census Bureau representatives will be at the Coralville Public Library each Friday in March from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
Stop by, learn about the job opportunities, ask questions, and even get help applying to be a census worker.
The pay rate in Johnson County for census workers is $21.00 per hour, plus $0.58 per mile.
Why Are Census Jobs Important?
Census results have a direct impact on Coralville and Johnson County.
Over $675 billion is distributed each year to communities nationwide
based on census data. Census results determine the number of seats each state has in the U.S. House of Representatives as well
as how funds are spent on roads, schools, and hospitals. It is important that everyone is our community is counted.
In
mid-March, invitations will be mailed to all households to complete the
census. If a household doesn't respond after a series of mailings,
Census workers will follow up with those households in person beginning
in May, so the job of census workers is vitally important to our
community.
