Youth Summer Programs
Coralville Parks and Recreation offers several summer day camps for youth:
All Day Camps
- SPARK: For youth who have completed kindergarten through entering sixth grade; Monday-Friday, all day.
- Trail Trekkers: For youth entering sixth through ninth grades; Monday-Thursday, all day.
Partial Day Camps
- CCPA Theater Camps: Age range varies by week; Monday-Friday, part day.
- Specialty Camps: Age range varies by week; Monday-Friday, part day.
SPARK Day Camp (Grades K-6)

Discount | 10% discount per child, if registered for six (6) or more weekly sessions. |
Scholarships | Limited scholarships available each week. Contact the Coralville Recreation Center at 319.248.1750 or email recreation@coralville.org regarding eligibility and how to apply. Scholarship spots fill up quickly. |
Registration | Register on a week-by-week basis (register for just the weekly sessions needed). Partial week registrations are not available. Public registration begins on March 28, 2023. Registrations will be accepted after April 1, 2023, based on session availability on a first-come, first-served basis. |

Accommodations | Parents of children with disabilities, language barriers, or children requiring special arrangements such as medication or behavior plans, should contact the Recreation Program Supervisor/Coordinator at the time of registration or at least 2 weeks prior to attending camp. The Recreation Program Supervisor and parent(s)/guardian(s) will determine a plan to accommodate the child in a safe and positive format. Please keep in mind your child should be able to function in a 1 adult to 10 children ratio. |
Trail Trekkers (Grades 6-9)
General Information

About | Give back to the community and make friends! Each week includes new activities and adventures. Staff facilitates kids’ active involvement with planning the weekly program. |
Requirements | Must have a working bike and helmet. Trekkers average 5-10 miles a day on their bikes in the Coralville and Iowa City area; this program is recommended for strong bike riders. |

Activities | Most mornings are spent on community service learning projects and self-development learning opportunities. The afternoons are spent swimming, exploring, and going on local and out-of-town field trips. |

Cost |
Cancellation Fees: You are allowed to transfer weeks with no penalty as long as there are openings. A $25 application fee will be assessed per child, per week, if a cancellation is made one-week prior to the start of the program. Cancellations made less than one-week prior to the start of the program will not be refunded. |
Registration | Registration opens on Monday, March 20, 2023. If you don't know your ActiveNet username and password, please call the Coralville Recreation Center at 319.248.1750. Do not create a new account. Once the payment has been entered into our computer system, you will be sent an invitation from Epact to complete the online Trail Trekker registration process. Please note that your child is not enrolled in the Trail Trekkers program until the online registration portion is completed. The online Epact registration must be completed by Monday, June 5, 2023.

Half-Day Specialty Camps (Grades K-6)

About | There are six different theme weeks: Magnificent Mud Camp, Harry Potter Wizardry Camp, Lego Kids Camp, Wildlife Explores Camp, Super Hero Camp, and Mad Scientists Camp. |

Apply to Be a Junior Leader
Youth entering grades 7-9 may apply to be a SPARK Junior Leader. Junior Leaders serve approximately 15 hours per week as role models for campers and gain leadership skills. Applications are due by May 5, 2023.
