Before & After School Program (BASP)
Coralville Parks and Recreation Department operates Before and After School Programs (BASPs) for children in kindergarten through 6th grade.

5th – 8th Grade Drop In Activities*
After school & evenings
The Recreation Center is open after school until 5:30 pm for school age youth ages 5th grade and above. Evenings may be available depending on other activities scheduled for the spaces. A monthly gym calendar shows when open gyms are available and for what age.

Drop-in activities
Parks and Recreation staff leads after school activities at no charge for 5th to 8th graders. Activities include games, tournaments, and “try something new” experiences. These programs run in the summer too. Drop-in programs are listed on our drop-in activities calendar each month to see what is going on at the Rec Center. For more information, contact the Recreation Center at 319.248.1750.

*Recreation Pass required
All youth ages 5th grade and above need a Recreation Pass to enter the building and participate in activities. The Recreation Pass is free.

Summer Programs
Summer Day Camps
Coralville offers a variety of summer programs:

  • SPARK day camp for students who have completed kindergarten through kids entering sixth grade.
  • Trail Trekkers day camp for students entering sixth grade through kids entering 9th grade.
  • Half-day summer enrichment programs, which incorporate academic skills and recreation, for students in kindergarten through 6th grades (ages vary by week)
  • Half-day theatre camps at the Coralville Center for the Performing Arts.

Summer program information is available in the spring, including dates, class descriptions, locations, fees, and registration deadlines.
