All Johnson County residents may dispose of hazardous goods at:
Hazardous Waste Collection Facility

Iowa City, Iowa

There is no charge for Johnson County residents to dispose of items at the facility. The facility is open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, 7:00 am to 2:00 pm, no appointment needed.

Items Accepted


  • Kitchen, bathroom, lawn / garden, and automotive products
  • Paints and solvents
  • Batteries (some exceptions apply)
  • Ink and toner cartridges
  • Compact florescent light bulbs (CFLs)

Prevent landfill fires by safely disposing of batteries.
