National Night Out
About National Night Out
National Night Out began in 1984 as an effort to promote crime prevention, build community partnerships, and strengthen neighborhood ties.  Neighbors who know each other can help make their neighborhood a safer place year round, and National Night Out is an event that connects neighbors.   Millions of people and thousands of communities participate each year.  Learn more about National Night Out

When is National Night Out?
The event is held annually on the first Tuesday in August. The 30th annual National Night Out is Tuesday, August 6, 2013, from 6:00 to 10:00 pm

How it Works
Residents are invited to join with their neighbors on National Night Out and have a block party or other outdoor event to build neighborhood spirit and familiarity. 

Representatives from Coralville Police Department, Fire Department, and City Council attend registered block parties to promote community partnerships and facilitate communication.

How to Register a Block Party
  • Register online, or
