The Coralville Fire Department has two fire stations, is staffed with over 55 volunteers and four paid members, and provides fire, medical, hazardous materials, and water rescue services for the areas of:

• Coralville
• University Heights
• East Lucas Township
• The University of Iowa's Oakdale campus

The Coralville Fire Department also provides proactive prevention services such as site plan reviews and fire safety education. Local community projects include fire safety education and station tours.

The Coralville Fire Department is ISO Class 3 rated, and is in the top 5% of all fire departments in the nation with a Class 3 rating or better.

Work began in March 2013 for the first addition and major improvement to Fire Station 1 on 5th Street, with completion expected in the fall.
