Rabies: An Incurable Disease
All cats and dogs four months and older must be vaccinated against rabies. Wildlife (skunks, raccoons, bats, foxes) can spread this incurable disease to your pet. Rabies can be transmitted to humans and may be fatal unless a series of anti-rabies shots are taken. Save your current rabies certificate for licensing.

Pet Licenses
Owners of dogs and cats over the age of four months can obtain a pet license at the Coralville Police Department. A current rabies certificate must be present for each pet at the time of licensing.

Dogs and cats under the age of four months that are no longer with their dam, but which are too young to be immunized, shall be issued a temporary City ID tag. Temporary City ID tags will automatically expire five months from the date of birth of the cat or dog.
