Major Road Reconstruction Continues

Coral Ridge Ave Improvements

Coral Ridge Avenue detour begins May 14

About the detour

Starting May 14, Coral Ridge Avenue traffic will detour using Oakdale Boulevard, Crosspark Road, and Wheaton Road.

Pedestrians & traffic signals

Pedestrian access will be across the north and west legs of the Coral Ridge Avenue and Oakdale Boulevard intersection, and across the north and west legs of the Oakdale Boulevard and Crosspark Road intersection.

Temporary traffic signals, including pedestrian signals, will be at both intersections.

Why is there a detour

The detour and temporary closure will speed up the project by letting the contractor reconstruct Coral Ridge Avenue from the north half of the Oakdale Boulevard intersection to just south of Wheaton Road, and the west half of Coral Ridge Avenue from Wheaton Road to Forevergreen Road, in one phase instead of three. Other lane reductions & closures

1st Avenue traffic is reduced to one lane in each direction near the 6th Street intersection, and both lanes shift east onto temporary pavement. 6th Street is closed from 1st Avenue to the Baymont Inn & Suites Driveway. Coralville Transit riders may experience delays, with reroutes for a few stops on 6th Street near 1st Avenue.  1st Avenue improvements
