Construction Updates

Check out news about the latest projects in Coralville:

Coral Ridge Avenue Project

Northbound Traffic to Move to East Side of New Median

It’s another Coral Ridge Avenue project milestone on the half-mile stretch between the Holiday Road / Heartland Drive and Oakdale Boulevard intersections: northbound traffic is scheduled to move one lane east of the center median later next week. Traffic will remain one lane in each direction while work finishes on the shoulder and new median.

S.T. Morrison Park / Recreation Center Parking Lot

Work to Begin Soon

Reconstruction work will start the week of May 18 on the main S.T. Morrison Park parking lot, located east of the Coralville Recreation Center. Motorists may park in the west side lot and the Aquatic Center parking lot until the project is complete in early July.

12th Avenue & Holiday Road

New Mini-Roundabout Will Reduce Delays at Intersection

Coralville’s first mini-roundabout will soon be constructed at 12th Avenue and Holiday Road.  The intersection will be closed to traffic from June 3 until early July but, when complete, the conversion from four-way stop to mini-roundabout will reduce delays during peak driving times. A pedestrian route will be maintained, and drivers should anticipate detours.  A mini-roundabout functions like a regular roundabout, but with a smaller footprint.

Reimagine 5th

Projects Continue

Portions of 5th Street between 1st and 10th Avenues are closed until mid-August for street improvements and flood protection projects. When complete, the reconstruction, improvements, flood mitigation projects, and recent redevelopment will result in a community-friendly, walkable corridor with trail connections, transit access, historic attractions, and public spaces.
