Recycle cardboard

The Right Place for Cardboard

Start a new habit: recycle your cardboard

If you’re not already recycling your corrugated cardboard, now is the time to begin: cardboard is no longer allowed in the trash. The Iowa City Landfill’s corrugated cardboard ban will divert about 4,000 tons of cardboard from the landfill each year.

Recycle cardboard curbside, at the Coralville Drop-Off Recycling Center, or at any drop-off recycling site in Johnson County.

What to do with pizza boxes

Cardboard that has food on it cannot be recycled. If pizza boxes are messy, tear off the top of the box to recycle the clean part, and toss the greasy cardboard in the trash.

Recycle holiday trees

Recycle Holiday Trees at the Curb

Throughout the month of January, we'll pick up live holiday trees at the curb. To be recycle-ready, greenery should be free of decorations, lights, bags, and stands. Holiday tree recycling
