Public Input Continues for West Land Use Area Plan

Wednesday, May 13 | 5:00-6:15 pm

Coralville City Hall 

Community planners will host a presentation for Coralville’s West Land Use Area with the latest plans and features, a chance to share ideas, and keypad polling to gather preferences for the area’s future design guidelines. The West Land Use Area is located between I-380 and Coral Ridge Avenue/Highway 965, south of Forevergreen Road, and north of I-80. Learn more

Swap, Shop, & Shred on Saturday, May 2

Recycle Swap Day

8:00 am-Noon

Whether you want to donate items or look for a great find, Recycle Swap Day in the City Hall parking lot, 1512 7th Street, keeps usable items out of the landfill! 


City-Wide Garage Sale

8:00 am-Noon

Find a treasure! Sale maps and a grab-and-go breakfast are available at the Recreation Center, 1506 8th Street, starting at 8:00 am on May 2.  

Community Shred Event

10:00 am-Noon

Thin out your files and bring up to two boxes of personal papers to the Aquatic Center parking lot, 1513 7th Street, for shredding in the mobile shredding truck!

Clean out for Mayor’s Clean up Week, May 4-8

Set out big items, such as wrecked furniture or washed-up bathroom fixtures, for free pickup on trash day from May 4 to May 8.  

For unwanted (but usable) building and housing materials and appliances, consider donating them to ReStore. Free pickup is available, donations are tax-deductible, and ReStore will sell the items to support Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity. Learn more

Save Some Green with Rain Barrels & Compost Bins

Get $20 off the cost of rain barrels and compost bins purchased at participating area stores through May 21!  Discount coupons are available at City Hall while supplies last. Learn more

…and grows like an invader!  If you’ve got invasive garlic mustard growing in your grass or garden, safely dispose of it at the drop site at the Coralville Recycling Center through late May. Learn more

Construction Updates for the 5th Street & Coral Ridge Avenue Projects

Portions of 5th Street between 1st and 10th Avenues are closed until mid-August for street improvements and flood protection projects. On Coral Ridge Avenue, work continues on the half-mile stretch between the Holiday Road/Heartland Drive and Oakdale Boulevard intersections.

Updates about the projects on 5th Street and the Coral Ridge Avenue are posted weekly at www.coralville.org/projects.

On Stage at the Center for the Performing Arts 

Seven shows take the stage at the Center over the next two weeks, including:

  • The continuation of City Circle’s Into the Woods (through May 3)
  • The American Girl Fashion Show (May 8 and 9)
  • Orchestra Iowa's Fifth Element on (May 10)
  • Spring concerts by the Iowa City Girls Choir (May 4), Van Allen Elementary (May 7), and Regina High School and Junior High bands (May 12)
  • ICCSD’s Music In the Village (May 14)

What's Happening at the Library

Grin City Author Talk

Thursday, May 7 | 7:00 pm

A selection of work by author Kevin Haworth will be printed on vinyl film and installed on the windows of the Coralville Public Library. Haworth will talk about his work and the project that transforms glass into the page of a book! Learn more
