1st Avenue Traffic Shifts to New West Half

Finishing-1st-logo_300

Beginning after the morning rush hour on Wednesday, October 24, head-to-head traffic will be shifted onto the new west half of 1st Avenue through the entire project corridor from 6th Street to 9th Street. The traffic shift will occur gradually over several hours and should be complete before the late afternoon rush hour. This will clear the way for reconstructing the remainder of the east half of 1st Avenue from 6th Street to 9th Street.

Pedestrians will be able to use the new sidewalk along the west side of 1st Avenue, except between Pipeline Rd and the southerly Days Inn driveway where retaining wall construction is ongoing. A pedestrian corridor will be provided around the retaining wall work zone using concrete barriers against vehicular traffic and orange plastic barriers against the work zone.

Drivers should take it slow through the project corridor and please keep an eye out for pedestrians, bicyclists, and construction workers!
