***Updated December 4, 2017: the Drop-Off Recycling Center is now open***

The Coralville Drop-Off Recycling Center is now open at 950 Hughes Street and offers convenient, expanded hours. Coralville residents can drop off recyclable items 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Acceptable items include paper, plastics #1-5 and 7, aluminum and tin, and cardboard.

The former Recycling Center on E. 7th Street has closed permanently to allow for ongoing redevelopment in the Iowa River Landing.

Access the new Drop-Off Recycling Center at 950 Hughes Street by turning east from 12th Avenue at 10th Street; follow the street as it continues in front of the City Parks, Transit, and Water Facility. The Coralville Drop-Off Recycling Center is at the end of the street. Get directions

The following items are recyclable at home in your curbside container and at the Drop-Off Recycling Center:

  • Paper: chipboard, envelopes (remove plastic windows), junk mail, magazines, newspaper, newsprint, paper, phone books
  • Plastic: containers #1 through #5, #7, juice bottles, milk jugs, soda/pop bottles
  • Aluminum and Tin: food cans, aluminum foil
  • Corrugated Cardboard

Sorting is simple at the Drop-Off Recycling Center: corrugated cardboard in one bin; all other recyclable materials in another bin. Please follow bin labels and signs. Do not discard non-recyclables at the Drop-Off Recycling Center. The new location will be under camera surveillance.

At home, using your curbside container, continue to sort recyclables into separate bags for paper, plastic, and aluminum/tin, and place corrugated cardboard under the curbside bin.
