The Coralville Fire Department is actively seeking dedicated men and women to serve as volunteer firefighters. The Coralville Fire Department currently has 3 paid staff members, over 50 volunteer firefighters, and 2 fire stations. Each member of the Coralville Fire Department must meet minimum requirements to respond to calls.
Applications for Fire Department membership are accepted throughout the year, and one Fire Academy class opens annually in August. Applicants must meet specific requirements in order to be considered. There is no cost to apply and no cost for Fire Academy classes. To apply to be a member of the next recruit class, complete an employment application. For more information about recruitment, please contact Chief David Stannard at 319.248.1836.
As part of the Fire Academy, each member must participate in approximately 6 months of classes prior to testing and becoming certified at the Firefighter I level. In Iowa, the national Firefighter I certification is administered by the Iowa Fire Service Training Bureau, a division of the State Fire Marshal’s Office, which is part of the Iowa Department of Public Safety.
